Tea Maker – What Type Will Suit You Best?
Tea makers nowadays consist of great variety. In addition to the traditional steeping kettles, there are glass or plastic tea makers (with or without infuser) and even electric tea makers that work on the drip-style coffee pot principle.
Let’s start from the traditional steeping kettles. If you prefer the old fashioned style, you can have classic kettle. But if you want something modern, there are electric ones – you just turn them on into the electric system and after few minutes the tea is ready. The advantages of the electric kettles are that they are really compact, usually are portable and the water is ready in no time. You can use the steeping kettles mainly for making of hot, not ice tea.
If you prefer ice tea, better option for you is to use glass or plastic tea maker as some models are especially made for that purpose too. Some tea makers have built in tea infusers, some have removable ones. If the tea maker doesn’t have tea infuser at all, it will for sure have thick strainer that will not let the tea leaves fall into the cup. Usually this kind of tea makers is transparent and is the most appropriate option for preparation of blooming (or also called flowering) tea. It can be also used for a pitcher when removing the infuser or the strainer.
Next type of tea maker is very modernistic – this is the electric tea maker that copies the manner of work of the drip-style coffee pot. The advantages of that type are many. First, it works really fast and there’s no need you to put an eye on it while brewing the tea (as is the case with the steeping kettle).
Second, most of the models have various options for settings depending on the appropriate temperature of the water and the proper time for steeping each type of tea (white, green, black, oolong, etc.). They also have settings for the strength of the taste you prefer. This is difficult to be controlled when using other types of tea maker.
Third, the electric tea makers can work only with loose or bagged teas or with both types. When choosing, consider this.
Finally, some models even have the option automatically to dispense the tea from the jug where it was brewed into tea cups. If so, just for few minutes you will have customized to your preferences freshly brewed and high quality cup of tea. The only thing you’d have done will be to adjust the settings and press the power on button. Isn’t that great convenience?
How to decide which type of tea maker is best suits you? The main factors you should consider is what your budget is, what are your preferences for tea (hot or ice, regular or blooming tea), how many time you have and how often you brew tea and, finally, what will be the most convenient for you appliance. Your choice will depend on all these questions and by answering them; you will decide what to choose.
